Beautiful three-volume boxed set of the First Printings of the Second Edition. Bound in Black Cloth with lettering in gilt on spine and Eye of Sauron and Ring motif stamped in gilt and orange, red and purple respectively on the front board. All volumes are square, tight and clean throughout with little or no wear. Perhaps a touch of softness to a couple of spine ends but barely.

No interior spotting, writing or toning. All rear fold-out maps are present and unblemished.

Have very mild edge-wear, with a couple of tiny nicks to the crowns. A couple of gentle rubs here and there. Spine lettering a touch faded but perfectly legible.

All are fresh and bright with no creases or tears. Slip case has just a touch of wear but there is spotting, looks like miniscule paint drops, (and some equally tiny nicks where many of the spots were scraped off), on the closed end. Really, the only real flaw and fortunately unnoticeable when sitting on a bookshelf. A gorgeous collectable set, uncommon in such nice condition, and at a great price. An eclectic mix of good books specializing in Sci-Fi, Mystery, General Antiquarian, Books About Books, Signed First Editions, Vintage Paperbacks, Modern Fiction and many, many others.
