J. R. R. Tolkien Original Paperback Set The Hobbit and Lord of the Rings Trilo

For your consideration are a set of 5 J. These are various paperbacks from various printing times and publishers.

The Fellowship of the Ring- Published by Ace Books 1965. The Two Towers- Published by Ace Books 1965. The Return of the King - Published by Ace Books 1965. The Hobbit - Published by Ballantine Books 1966. Smith of Wootton Major & Farmer Giles of Ham - Published by Houghton Mifflin Company 1978. The three Lord of the Ring books were published by Ace Books. These books were published without Tolkien's blessing, thinking it would be a loophole to avoid paying royalties. These unauthorized Ace editions were soon afterwards discontinued, making them difficult to find.

The Hobbit edition is easily available, and is a common copy. The final book published by Houghton Mifflin Company is more difficult to locate, but is still available elsewhere.

Condition: Books are in loved condition. Books have creases, and the first LOTR book has had a name written on the top of the first page, and a remainder mark stamp on the top.

Please note that The Hobbit front cover has fallen off. This can be repaired or replaced, I simply did not have time to do so.
