All books are fine- in near fine or better dust jackets BEWARE a lot of copies offered online of these books are x-lib copies!

As with the other set, the jackets all have silver foil edges with rune letters. There is a bit more rubbing to the silver foil on the edges of the jacket than my last set. Fine in Fine- Dust Jacket, a nice copy, boards clean, corners straight, very nice except some rubbing to the silver foil edges of the jacket which is very common with these books.

The Two Towers Being the Second Part of the Lord of the Rings by J. First Alan Lee Illustrated Edition with dust jacket and interior color artwork, 16 plates by Lee. Fine in Near Fine price-clipped Dust Jacket, a nice copy. Boards clean, corners mostly straight with just a hint of tenderness to front upper right hand corner.

The jacket has no tears but some crinkling to the upper spine, a few marks to the back and. Rubbing to the silver foil edges of the jacket which is very common with these books, a bit more than the others.

The Return of the King Being the Third Part of the Lord of the Rings by J. First Alan Lee Illustrated Edition with dust jacket and interior color artwork, 15 plates by Lee. Fine in Near Fine+ Dust Jacket, a nice copy. The book itself is just about fine, boards clean, corners straight, but again rubbing to the silver foil, most noticeable at the top and bottom on the back. Edition Information : "The Lord of the Rings", essentially one long novel issued in three parts, was a kind of sequel to "The Hobbit" (1937).

It was first published in the US and UK in 1955-6. Alan Lee began contributing new cover artwork to editions issued in the late 1980's.

Then Lee was commissioned to create new illustrations for the books with interior plates which were released as a three-volume set in the UK in 1991 and in the US in 1992, the latter is the edition for sale. Eventually his artwork would influence the look of "The Lord of the Rings" film series directed by Peter Jackson. NOTE: All modern books with dust jackets come with dust jacket covers.
