Lord of the Rings Tolkien First US Alan Lee Illustrated Edition 3-Vol Hardcovers

Beautiful 3-volume first illustrated edition hardcover set of The Lord of the Rings by J. (John Ronald Reuel) Tolkien with dust jacket cover artwork and interior color (colour) plates by Alan Lee, the first fully illustrated edition issued in 1991-2.

This is the first US issue, all first printings. The first Alan Lee edition was issued in the UK by Unwin & Hyman, 1991. All books are in dust jackets with wear to the edges but intact (these are often missing).

NOT x-lib or BCE copies. BEWARE a lot of copies offered online of these books are x-lib copies! NOTE: the books all have silver foil edges with rune letters. They are for the most part clean, bright and crisp with slight rubbing here and there.
