LORD OF THE RINGS Tolkien Rare Folio Society Editon 1977 See Description

A rare first Folio Society edition bound in fancy gilt embossed cream colored covers, in the original slipcase. The only illustrated edition of Lord of the Rings approved by Tolkien, who did not want illustrations to detract from the story. He agreed to allow the Folio Society to incorporate the abstract artwork of his former student, Ingahild Grathmer.

There is some fading to the slipcase from age, some rubbing to the edge of Fellowship of the King. Inside, pages are bright and free from blemishes except in Return of the King there is a creased section to the top edge of about 2-3 pages near the beginning. Otherwise in good/very good condition.
