THE LORD OF THE RINGS Comprising THE FELLOWSHIP OF THE RING, THE TWO TOWERS & THE RETURN OF THE KING. Second Edition, Second Impression, Second Edition, Second Impression & Second Edition, First Impression [respectively].

A very collectible set of the Second & First Printings of the Second Edition of Tolkien's classic "The Lord of the Rings" in lovely clean and crisp dustwrappers. All books in lovely condition too. The rings of power were crafted by Elven smiths.

Sauron the Dark Lord forged the one ring with all his power so he could rule them all. But Sauron lost the ring and has sought it throughout the Kingdom of Middle-earth ever since. The ring falls by chance in "The Hobbit" to Bilbo Baggins of Bagend. Meanwhile, Sauron's power has increased many fold and he resides in the Dark Tower of Mordor but still searches for the ring to bind them all. Bilbo on his eleventy first birthday disappears leaving his worldly chattels including the ring to his cousin Frodo.

A perilous quest results across Middle-earth along, with Gandalf the Wizard, Merry & Pippin, Sam, Gimli the dwarf, Legolas the Elf, and Boromir of Gondor to destroy the ring in the Cracks of Doom but they fall into the dark shadow of Mordor and the reach of Sauron! Three Rings for the Elven-Kings under the sky.

In the land of Mordor where the shadows lie. All books in original red cloth with gilt titles & ring device to spine. Clean boards with a hint of a few marks to boards. Internally clean with old small ink owner name stamp x 2 to front endpapers on all volumes & one same owner bookplate to front endpaper on Return.

Dark red topedge clean and unrubbed. Spotting to leading edges of textblock & very slightly/occasionally on endpapers. All maps present and folded - a couple of very light marks to reverse of wrappers. The second edition dustwrappers are complete with hardly any edgewear to extremities. The slightest off tone to wrapper spine. White lettering still bold and white.

No wear to spine tips due to the old brown paper coverings. Old tape ghosts to rear of all wrappers [see example in photo] & one to rear flap on Two Towers.

Original price of 25snet to front flaps. The dustwrappers have been loosely placed in white backed glassine archival dustwrapper protector for there further preservation. A wonderful set of the Second & first Prints of the Second Edition of The Lord of the Rings complete with original dustwrappers in lovely condition - looking fantastic on the shelf.
