The Lord of the Rings (Millennium Edition). (12mo) size, 7.25/18.4cm h. ISBN 0618037667 for the set.
Bound in publisher's glossy black paper over boards, gilt lettering to spine and front board, gilt "JRRT" device against ornamental red band to spine, and "Ring and Eye" device to front board of each book. First book ("The Ring Sets Out") includes a revised (1993) version of Douglas A. Anderson's Note on the Text. All maps collected in Book Seven (but for the Shire map in Book One).
Condition Notes: Very good, clean, crisp, unmarked copies in a very good-plus slipcase. Slipcase shows light wear/rubbing, with small (dime-sized) light stain to white interior. Light wear and rubbing to boards. The first two volumes (The Ring Sets Out and The Ring Goes South, originally published together as The Fellowship of the Ring) are marred by light staining to the fore-edge from tea or similar light brown liquid, modest but noticeable, penetrating up to half an inch into the pages; no sticking or tears.
These small hardcover books are a pleasure to hold in the hand, and very different from the usual large LOTR HC volumes. There have been many editions of The Lord of the Rings in three volumes "trilogy", anyone? , and in one volume, but this the only six volume edition I'm aware of (plus a seventh volume for the appendices), giving each volume Tolkien's preferred title. And, yes, we're aware one volume is out of place in the main photo, creating a typo "Toklien"!
