Tolkien Lord of the Rings Hobbit 1970's Red Box Books VG+ Condition plus BONUS

The Lord of the Rings. RARE 5 Book 70's Set in VG+ Condition! This set of books were all published in the 1970's, and to find all 5, from the same decade in possibly unread VG+ condition is quite RARE!

The Red Box is also from the 1970's, so this matching set would be a great addition to any serious Tolkien Collection. The box does show signs of age (as seen in the pictures), however, all of the seams and corners are intact, no separation. The books all are in VG+ condition!!

Take a close look at the pictures, the spines are not creased and are glossy, and the covers are also not creased and are glossy. All five books are tight and resist being opened, all page edges are crisp and sharp, and as such appear to me to be in possibly unread and unused condition, which is VERY RARE for this older paperback set, regardless of the printing dates. The Tolkien Reader does have a very slight bend/crease to the upper right corner of the front cover (see closeup picture). The Hobbit has a very slight crease to the spine and front cover, but it doesn't appear to be from having been read, only opened gently at times.

The Fellowship of the Ring does have a previous owner name inscription to the inside of the front cover (see picture). The printings of these books are as follows. The Tolkien Reader - January 1978. The Hobbit - June 1976. Fellowship of the Ring - June 1977.

The Two Towers - December 1978. The Return of the King - December 1978.
